Traditional Tsuchiyu Kokeshi – 30 cm
Tsuchiyu kokeshi are recognizable by their relatively small heads, which have black circles on the top, with the center left open, called janome “snake eyes”. The body is thin and is generally decorated with stripes created with the lathe and also obtained by reversing the rotation of the tool.
What we love about this doll, besides the delicacy of the features, is the fineness of its fringe. And there is more: on the bottom, together with master’s signature, there is the date of production, 18/01/1947, which makes it truly rare and special.
