Autumn at Vud: new chairs worth making room for
This autumn we’re welcoming two new chairs into the HAY collection: one from design legend Jasper Morrison, one from Icelandic designer Gudmundur Ludvik. And because bringing in the new means finally making room, we’re also clearing the floor of some one-of-a-kind pieces that have been part of the shop for a while. Come sit on both in store.

The Autumn 2026 promotion: Pack Chair and Backflip Chair get 10% off when ordered between 1 September and 31 October 2026.
Pack Chair: Jasper Morrison’s everyday classic, remixed
Jasper Morrison doesn’t design furniture to be noticed. He designs furniture you stop noticing, because it simply belongs. With Pack Chair, he takes the familiar silhouette of the classic trattoria chair and rebuilds it for today: a moulded seat and backrest in 80% recycled polypropylene reinforced with wood fibre, on solid oiled oak legs. The name is literal, too: Pack Chair ships flat-packed and goes together in minutes, no tools drama required.

It comes in two moods. Pack Chair 10 keeps it simple, in five colours (Hull red, Chalk grey, Ash blue, Palm green, Graphite brown), each on warm oak legs. Pack Chair 11 adds an upholstered seat cover for a softer, more tailored feel, with dozens of leg, backrest and fabric combinations to choose from.

Here’s the part that makes it an easy decision: it’s €199. A genuine Jasper Morrison design, from one of the most quietly influential designers working today, at a price that has nothing “design” about it. If you’ve been circling a Jasper Morrison piece for the dining table, this is the one that finally makes sense.
Backflip Chair: a beautiful chair that happens to fold
Let’s be clear about what Backflip actually is, before we get to the clever part: it’s a genuinely handsome chair. Solid beech frame, a softly curved moulded-plywood backrest, refined proportions that hold their own next to any of the wood chairs already in our shop. Designed by Gudmundur Ludvik, it comes in six finishes (Golden, Bronze, Cedar green, Cloud blue, Anthracite and Cream white), all in a soft semi-transparent lacquer that keeps the beech grain visible.

Now, the clever part: it folds. With one hand, by rotating the backrest, Backflip collapses down to just 10 cm deep and can hang on the wall with an optional beech bracket that holds two chairs at once. It’s the first folding chair HAY has ever put into production, but we’d stock it even if it didn’t fold, because on its own two feet, it’s simply a very good chair.

Perfect for the extra guest, the small kitchen, or anyone who wants a beautiful chair without committing permanent floor space to it.
Why now: we’re making room
Truth is, this isn’t just a launch. It’s a bit of a reset. Fitting Pack Chair and Backflip into the shop the way they deserve means making room, so a group of display chairs that have been part of the shop for a while are going on sale (20% off!). Some of them are genuinely one of a kind, since HAY has stopped making them in that particular colour. Others simply are not: fall for the chair on display, and if you want more from the same series, order them alongside it and the extra pieces get 10% off.
Come see them in store, that is the only place to catch them!
